What is the dragon doing in your dream? Is it sleeping? Is it flying? Is it terrorizing a city?
I had a dragon dream awhile back where it started out terrorizing this village, breathing fire on it. And i knew I needed to save the village.. so the next time it swooped down I jumped on its back and took control of it. In one have I also had a large sword.
This represents an identification that my ego was getting out of control and was becoming destructive to my growth in consciousness. So I had to take over and give it direction. And I did that through proper use of the 13 Universal Laws [sword].

Essentially it is just conveying the way in which a dreamer is unconscious to the thoughts they think. For example, let's look at a dog, most people's first thought of the main quality they see in a dog is loyalty, or friendship. So when the dog appears in the dream it is indicating how the dreamer is naturally a loyal person. They do not have to think of whether to be loyal or not, it is habitual.
So when an animal shows up in a dream the first thing you will want to do is identify the main quality you see in that animal. For example, for me, I see:
Cat - independent
Turtle - slow
Bull - aggressive
Squirrel - scattered
Etc
Then you will want to see what is happening in the dream with the animal. Is it off to the side not bothering anyone? Is it chasing you? Has it died?
This will give you insight into why you may need to become more conscious in choosing these thoughts and less habitual.
