We need to eat different for better health and wellness and one good way to get preventive properties in our system is to be better educated about Sea Vegetables — Sea Moss and Seaweed!
All Edible Sea Vegetables have powerful nutrient dense properties — not just Irish moss! There are thousands of species of seaweed and sea moss and they each have their unique benefit! So we need to make them a part of our regular diet!
However, right now people are demanding sea moss as if it is the only one with power.
So, I wanted to make those who are unaware know that there are 3 popular commercial SEA MOSS!
The three are oftentimes mislabeled on Sea Moss packaging or when being advertised and marketed.
Some supplies are erroneously telling potential customers that they are purchasing Irish Moss when actually there is only one Irish Moss AND that is unlikely what they are selling.
Irish Moss scientific name is Chondrus Crispus and comes from waters in Ireland, Great Britain, the Atlantic coastlines of the U.S. and Canada, most European shores as well as Iceland. Do your supplier have a connection to these sea moss markets?
Chondrus Crispus got its name —Irish Moss — because it proved to be a survival food during the Irish Potato Famine in Ireland! Most of us are more familiar with it now because Dr Sebi and Dr Shook spoke and demonstrated the power of Chondrus Crispus (Irish Moss).
However here are the three types of sea moss:
1. Chondrus Crispus (Irish Moss)
2. Eucheuma Cottonii
3. Gracilaria
Now that you know a little about Chondrus Crispus (Irish Moss) here is a little info about the other two sea moss:
Studies indicate that Gracilaria and Eucheuma Cottonii are found in Antigua, Anagada, Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Jamaica, as well as other Caribbean Islands.
Eucheuma Cottonii are abundant in the Philippines, tropical Asia, East Africa, and the Western Pacific region.
You can get your protein and others important minerals and natural vitamins from all three —Chondrus Crispus Gracilaria and Eucheuma.
For example A 1958 Study shown that Irish Moss contains many common amino acids, especially arginine, citrulline, glutamic acid, and taurine.
The essential amino acids with the highest content in Gracilaria were arginine, leucine and threonine.
We use all three sea moss as well as many other seaweeds at Beyond Vegan Cell Food to make nutrient dense plantbased menu options!
Chondrus crispus is higher in nutrients than other sea vegetables but has a stronger flavor making it a less desirable ingredient for use in food, but at Beyond Vegan Cell Food we discovered a way to use Irish moss in our vegan crab cake, burgers, bean waffles and sauces!
If you can’t readily get sea moss, make sure to eat more sea vegetables (seaweed) like kelp, Nori, Dulse, Wakame, Bladderwack and Sea Lettuce! Stop by and get a seaweed rice and bean plate or a crab cake from Beyond Vegan Cell Food because they are filled with these sea vegetables!
