Support Melanated People. Not just the Melanated People app, but actual people—your family, friends, neighbors, and local businesses. Buy from Black-owned grocery stores, delis, farmers, beauty salons, restaurants, and more. There’s always someone who needs your support, even if they don’t ask for it.
Learn First Aid. It can save lives. Once you’ve got the basics down, pass the knowledge on to others.
Stock up when you can. If possible, grab a few extra canned goods, bottled water, first aid supplies, and toiletries when you do your weekly shopping. You don’t need a stockpile—just a little extra can go a long way.
Find joy every day. Laughter and positivity are acts of rebellion. Do not let the fuckers get you down.
Exercise. No downsides to this one (sorry!). Plenty of great workouts online require no equipment—find one you enjoy and get moving.
Learn to fix things. Repairing instead of replacing is another act of rebellion and saves you money.
Look after each other. Check in on your people. This is crucial.
Have discussions with different perspectives. Civilized, safe discussions—only with those willing to engage respectfully. If they don’t? Fuck ‘em and walk away.
Teach and share skills. Know how to can food? Show a friend. Learn how to grow vegetables, fix things, or build something new. Knowledge is power when it’s shared.

Get weapons and be trained, be proficient.

Most importantly—don’t give up. You’ve survived every single bad day you’ve ever had. You’re tough. You got this.
