Brazil's 🇧🇷 Supreme Court has ruled this week that homophobia is now punishable by prison in a landmark decision.

The unanimous 9-1 ruling that took place on Tuesday now puts homophobic slurs on par legally as racist hate speech. Justice Edson Fachin, the lead judge on the case, said in his ruling it was a "constitutional imperative" to give LGBTQ+ 🏳️‍🌈 citizens equal protection under the law.
