Back in the day, many forms of media, like cartoons, advertisements, and movies, often showed Black people in a negative light, using harmful stereotypes. These stereotypes didn’t accurately represent the real lives and diversity of Black communities.
Photographs, however, could offer a different view. Unlike other media, photography has the potential to capture real moments and real people. This allowed photographers to show Black individuals more genuinely and respectfully.
