In Metu Neter, just as in Islam fasting, charity, and prayer are 3 of the main themes that we use to correct the spirit.

For me, Ramadan is going well so far! Normally I eat one meal a day, but during the winter months I had started to snack (almost uncontrollably), and even had a meal or two late morning / early afternoon.

I was starting to put back on some of the weight that I lost. Surely, The Most High is the best of planners.. Ramadan came at the perfect moment! This year I took some time to prepare, and relaxed my work schedule so I have time to focus on learning, repairing, cleaning, organizing, prayer, and the lofty goal of listening to the entire Quran audiobook this month. I'm also studying / learning some Arabic phrases for deeper insights.

So far I have fallen behind on the Qur’an goal, but have made all the obligatory prayers! (another goal). I'm also doing well with my data analytics course, and reconditioned an old laptop. I'm trying to get stable diffusion to work on it which is an artificially intelligent image generation program that allows you to produce more consistent images. I've also been advancing my music skills in a few technical areas.

One of the greatest benefits I find from fasting is the ability to engage in more focused deep thought. Our bodies are not consumed with processing food so that energy goes to the mind.

Additionally, fasting is the perfect tool to help curb lower function appetites. Any vices can be curbed with the same skills you strengthen during a fast. After all our bodies actually NEED food and water, but we don't need cigarettes, video games, sex, or any other form of folly.. so if you can abstain from food and water, and become the master of yourself in this way anything else will be far less of a challenge by comparison for the most part.
