Micromanage
Think back
In those days
When you’re a slave
In America
And you live in a white
Slaveowner’s house
She or he
Told you to cut off
All your hair
By force
By persuadin
And put your identity
In their furniture
Or imagine
You’re an African male slave
And your massa makes you to
Wear a lingerie around his house
While tidyin up his room….
Cos he wants to humiliate you
And laugh at you
In his enjoyment…
Tell me am I reachin?
A white woman
Aggressively
Gets a black woman
To feed her baby
While her own child
Is eaten by alligators
Or by them…
I mean
I’m thinkin
Of micromanage
In slavery
And how it affects us today…
That truama still exists….
Especially when we talk about
History and its historical scars
That has been passed down
Repeatedly…
It’s why nobody
Wants to speak of
It cos white folks
Knew exactly what their ancestors did
And they continue to benefit from
It….
Can you imagine
Micromanagement
In those sad days
And then it becomes
More repetitive over and
Over especially when
You hear on the news
A black person has been forced
To cut their hair for school
A black man has been persuaded
To wear a dress in order to get a bag?
This is micromanagement
As its finest
Certain things little things that
Harm black people
Is always a broken record…
It’s not always at work
It could be anywhere
At home, parks, standin in lines at
A coffee shop…
Even online….
Do you know what worse?
Black people took micromanage tactics
From white counterparts and do it
On their own race…it’s another way to
Disrespect themselves…
I listen to those stories
I witness and observe
And now I think of micromanagement
I think of slavery
Where my ancestors had to be
Force to do somethin that they didn’t wanna do….
I say micromanage
Creates trauma
In our own skeleton
It makes us feel so
Inferior….and I believe that’s what
An example of white supremacy does….
You can always correct me
If I’m wrong…
I rather not be gaslightin
Cos I do know what I’m talkin
About…. It’s hurtful to
Black people….
