I write hypothetically
My poetry has become
Scenarios where I picture myself in
Many situations…
It’s my way of critical thinkin
Especially
When I watched a YouTube video
Of a person’s experience, I pictured
Myself in their shoes goin through
Hardships…
The ones that never happened
And i hope it’s never happened….
You can say
I write Hypothetically
I let my own imagination runs
Amuck, thinkin
Feelin someone’s pain
Someone’s passion….
I also write the ones
That could possibly happen to me
And maybe they might come true….
Then it’s not Hypothetic anymore
Cos I know in my soul
It’s real….
The reason I write Hypothetically
Cos I wanna give my readers to think
About, give them lessons to be inspired
Of no matter what it is…I do write poems about
Racism, how it is an global issue for black people
Around the world…I’m harsh and compassion
Cos racism is cruel, it’s a world’s biggest abuse….
I was inspired by someone said we should
Talk about it everyday, cos we’re dealin with oppression…
It was Dr. Frances Cress Welsing…
Who said we need to discuss it…
So I decided to write about it
I decided to write hypothetically
With different subjects and topics
That has to do with racism….
I pretend that I was in those dangerous situations
Where white people throw microaggressions
In my face constantly…or imagine myself watchin
A black boy get lynched for no reason…
I thought I could help black people
Who need answers they asked among themselves
Why, how when, where, they whisper it’s always
White…may not have all the answers
However I understand our situations
I understand our slave mentality….
What we have to go through
And we keep findin out more and more
About ourselves that white supremacy keeps
Secrets behind our backs….
It’s why I write hypothetically….
I get inspiration
I picture myself in today’s events
And I’m also learnin
Even relearnin so I can help people
Out there I can give some kind of healin
From the heart by readin me as a poetess
As a writer who tells the truth
Gives a voice to paper
Only to remind them
You can speak your mind
You can do the right thing….
You may think it’s a poem
But always remember
There’s a message….
Most times the crowd doesn’t wanna
Listen to it…they will hate the person
Who says it so easily….it’s too difficult
To hate the words that rings facts….
For me,
When I write about serious topics
And in my head I’m in those situations
Hypothetically, my soul gather words to
Say and share them cos I have empathy for
People who are broken…sometimes i cry
With them…I knew it’s not fair….
Poets do catch a glimpse
Of somebody’s heartache
Even though it’s not theirs
Whatever it is goin on,
You wanna remind your
Audience even yourself
Don’t do this don’t do that
Do this, do that….poets warn
People for their sake….
Even when they don’t know what
They meant behind a metaphor…
I write hypothetically…
I’m not tryin to be profound…
I always make sure to ink to type
The truth, such a reality check
There’s somebody out there
Who needs to know the truth…
Who has the urge taste a message
On their tongue….
It’s nothin wrong
With that…it’s nothin wrong to
Have a message to have a quote sacred
In your heartbeat…
