The IVF bill, formally known as the "Access to Family Building Act," was introduced to protect and establish federal rights to in vitro fertilization (IVF) and other assisted reproductive technologies. The legislation came in response to a ruling by the Alabama Supreme Court that classified frozen embryos as children, leading many fertility clinics in the state to halt IVF procedures due to the legal risks involved with the destruction of unused embryos.
