You know
There are people
Who doesn’t like me
That much cos
I spoke the truth in poems
That nobody wants to listen…
They will ignore me
They will not take me seriously
The fact is,
People are so used to
Writin about love
Romancin
And it was all positive
Yet my pieces do evolve
Over time, I do expand my
Vocabulary…I express
My vulnerabilities
When it comes to certain topics…

It’s ok that people
Back off from
Readin my poems
Thinkin it’s not me
It’s someone else
It’s always been me
I choose to write somethin
Different
I choose to educate
People through words
Whether it’s controversial or
Not…I chose to write
What I’ve observed
Nobody told me to
Write my blackness on paper
Yes I was influenced
By YouTube
By social media
But also books that I read
I also went through
Many rabbit holes…
I come up with my
Own conclusions

You may call me
A nerd you may call me racist
You may call me hate speech
I stand what I say…
When people don’t like me
Some are afraid of the facts
Some are afraid to speak up…
They’re the ones who said
You can’t write those things
Not say them at all…

Meanin
I gotta respect feelings
I don’t want to when
I’m being informative to
My readers…. I do have the right
To have a voice, I’m not puttin my pen
For anybody…I do throw messages
Out and about…don’t care…
Somebody out there needs to be
Woke…

Some of the reasons why
People doesn’t like poets
Cos they speak the truth
Through pages and on the mic
From our souls…they don’t like
That very much…

It’s ok they don’t actually have
To like us..if certain events happen
To some ignorant person, we be like
We told you so in a polite manner
Or we could be rude….or we don’t say
Shit at all…

I’m not sayin
All people who don’t like me
I’m sayin a few or so
Cos they think

I turn into someone I’m not or
That I listen to a lot of
Angry black people,
No it’s not..
I wanna educate people
I wanna teach them about racism
In my metaphors…I wanna break hearts by
Sayin there’s no white Jesus in the sky…
It’s all made up…
I want my audience to do
Their own research before givin me
Major comebacks

I don’t have time
For that…
I’m a writer
I’m a poetess
All in one body
And if you don’t like what I say
And it offends you,
Well don’t read my poetry….
My poetry is not for you…

I will not change up my
Words for you to be comfortable…
It’s not how it works
Go control some other poets…
Around here
We talked about the truth that
Nobody cares that everyone continues
To ignore….

I’m coddlin
People who needs the truth…
Who thinks ignorance is so unhealthy….
Not lies
Not kumbaya bull shit…

When people don’t like me
And my poems
I’ll have to admit that
It hurts my feelings…
Yet why worry?
My poems are not for everybody
