The reason some don't want to teach not white washed american history (CRT), isn't because it'll make some white children feel bad. It's because they don't want those same children seeing their peepaw and meemaw screaming and throwing rocks at people that just wanted a better education or enjoy a meal. Or at a picnic watching strange fruit hang and burn.
