A recent conflict in the South China Sea between the Philippine Navy and the Chinese Coast Guard could actually turn into a conflict involving the United States. This is after a Philippine sailor was injured after a Chinese Coast Guard ship allegedly rammed their boat.

The US State Department condemned the Chinese Communist Party's actions, and they also reaffirmed the US commitment to the Philippines including militarily.
