What if I got punished
For writin a so called “racist” poem
And I share it with my staffs at a group home
Or at the arc or even at a day program
Would my iPad and phone be taken away?
Erase all my poetry
Burn my artworks in the fire?
Cos
I write a “racist” poem
About
White people
And I’m black
I can’t be racist
I don’t have a system that oppresses
Another race….
I can be prejudice
But not a fuckin racist….
You see
My feelings would get hurt
If somebody takes my stuff away
Cos they got offended by
The facts I’m spillin out
They say my words are hate speech…..
First of all,
It’s not a hate speech
It’s a critical thinkin
A critical thought….
Logic
Nobody wants to use
It anymore it seems….
There are people who
Like that
Take away everythin
And get other people to be
Against you
Cos you’re doin somethin
Correct…..
That person is ignorant…..
And you did nothin
But write a poem to make the world
Think…..
I don’t wanna be in that situation….
I don’t wanna have to apologize for
What I’ve written…..
A lot of situations
Does happen
Whatever it is
Doesn’t have to be a
Poem it could be somethin else
Somehow
You get punished for gettin
People to use their brains…
I wouldn’t say a word punish
I’d say another word for
Someone who would take your stuff away
For being offensive cos I tell the truth…
I can’t think of a term
Though this is another type of scenario
Where we get banned from sharin
Your work with your friends and loved ones
Even with your coworkers and then someone
Overheard and used to systematic power to quiet you….
You did nothing wrong but you share the pieces of your
Soul to the people you trust…
I always think about different kinds of scenarios
When it comes to racism white supremacy
When it comes to being melaninated….
I do imagine myself in someone’s shoes..
And yea I’m black…and I experience racism as well…
And this is why I wanna do my best to help my people
To understand the oppression…
Cos when we experience white supremacy,
We feel like it’s not fair,
We feel like we can’t do anythin but to sit there
And take this cruelty…
I said we don’t have to..
We can shut the system down
Though too many of melaninated people
Don’t have the mindset
Don’t have the revolutionary heart for our own race….
Again i don’t wanna be in a position
Where my stuff are taken away
Cos I wrote a so called racist poem
That I share with a staff or a friend
And someone overheard got offended
Then use the power to hush me…
I didn’t do anythin wrong
These scenarios are runnin through my head
They never happened to me
Yet it does happen to other people
Who has been in a similar situation…
