In the sixteenth century, 300,000 slaves were traded in the Atlantic, the trans-saharan slave trade was about 550,000 African moving north as slaves.

By seventeenth century about 1, 350,000 Africans were sold as slaves in the Atlantic trade with majority shipped to the Americass.

By eighteenth century there was another massive increase of about 6,000,000 slaves moved across the Atlantic plus over 700,000 across the Sahara.

Over 12 million Africans were sold into slavery and a little above 2million died in the dreaded middle passage.
