I’m glad that I fucked my grammar up…
I’m glad that I fucked my grammar up..
Cos you know why?
My original unknown language has been completely erased…
And I had to be born with a white man’s tongue…
A fork tongue…
English…
I don’t know what my people spoke
Way before someone prisoned our lips…
We had Ebonics only to mimic their massas’ sayings…
Was there a law that we can’t speak our own mother tongue?
For centuries we spoke English clearly
We have to write English perfectly clear…
Like we have to talk properly as them
Especially when it comes to writin….
For me, my grammar was bad
People had to correct the way I said things
But you know the more I think about it,
The more I see..
My bad grammar in writin could be my revolution….
Just cos colonizers stole my language they erased it they white out
Our syllables…. And I don’t know what my ancestors spoke
Way before slavery…I have no idea… I can always do my research
Right?
This is my way of sayin since white supremacy took my original tongue
I will fuck my grammar up…
And I’m glad my grammar is terrible….
Even though I’m a writer, I know I’m supposed to have
Good grammar skills right?
Not every writer has great grammar skills….
Sometimes writers write nonsensical sentences
And it’s still good…..
For the black writers
Out there somewhere who loves the pens and paper
With a passion, and y’all ain’t good at whatever that’s part of
Writin, that could be your black power if y’all want….
With my bad grammar
And my grammatical errors
I didn’t stop writin…
It didn’t stop me from typin what’s in my soul..
It’s my voice, my safe place…
To breathe, to be alive…
If you’re bad at spellin words or anythin like that
But your pieces bring magic to your readers’ hearts
Don’t give up
Don’t stop…
Cos I know your soul got somethin to say
On that paper…
