I've been noticing how searching for certain topics using keywords relevant to the subject at hand no longer yields search results you would have been able to find 4-5 years ago, and instead will yield you results that are merely adjacent to the topic, like searching for certain information about a person's connections (such as the creator of the LGBT flag) but only seeing results about them dying which isn't what I searched for.
Why do I feel like search engines as well as YouTube give you less relevant search results on purpose? And it truly does depend on the topic you are searching for, that the results mysteriously become less relevant.
Optimistically, you could say that the algorithms were changed to be most reactive to the newer younger generation, but I feel like it was changed for other reasons.
And for similar reasons, you don't hear about police brutality in the news nearly as much as you used to. I also remember how various social media platforms were pretending to care about "Black voices."
