Self hate

You know somethin I notice
Or somebody mention is that
Black people make their own
People look bad and stupid
In the public eye…we all see it…
We all shake our heads
Like this is one of our main issues
We have within our race….

We truly get disgusted of
One another…we have this
Deep grained self hatred
In us that we keep dividin
Ourselves away from each other
When that happens,
Somebody will always conquer
Our nation…now who taught us
To disrespect, to disunity from the people
Who look like us? It’s been that way
For centuries….

We learned, and we continue
To learn to hate us, to call us ugly
And too dark…we pasted colorism
Into our mouths…we act like white supremacist
On each other knowin we’re not a white man…
We’ve been brainwashed to be like him…

I’m sorry if I sound like negative
Towards my people, but it’s true
I pointed out the obvious, the observation
Written in my own face..we talk down on
Each other on social media, in real life,
Even black businesses, at school
I mean we do a lot of harm on one another
Everywhere and we supposed to uplift
Our melaninated communities…

Somehow when other races came around
Especially white folks, it’s a different story
And I should be embarrassed cos
We’re too lovin, we’re just extra kind to
Those people who doesn’t look like us..
And they envy us…we don’t realize their
Jealousy and we just give too much compassion
Towards them instead of givin each other love…

Black people has the low of the lowest
Self esteem….where it comes from?
Why do we have to carry inferiority complex
Around all the time? Do you ever question?
Do you ever wonder how come we fight and
Get mad at each other just cos we look like
Each other? Who taught us to hate us?

And I can hear Malcolm X in my head
Right now…when he asked us who taught us
To hate ourselves…like how come we don’t see
Our own race as valuable? We don’t see ourselves as
Beautiful…it was taught…it was taught that we’re ugly…
It was taught that our melanin skin is not the beauty standards…
It was taught dark skin isn’t pretty, only light skin…do you ever
Wonder where the ignorant ideas came from? Cos nobody In our
Race sets the rules up…nobody looks like us who sets the tone at all…

You’re goin have to research if you have questions
About our own self hate and disrespect…it does create
So many destruction and harsh dynamics within us…
I have always thought we’re sick…we’ve been sick ever since
Colonizers walked on our homelands…
