If you’re a black person

If you’re a black person,
You must learn your history
You must understand white supremacy…
You must know your own people
You must love your melaninated self
You must support black owned businesses…
You must listen carefully…
You really need to know you’re a human…
With dignity and respect….
Enough dancin
Enough playin games
You need to take life seriously
Ya we joke and have fun
But when is it the last time you pick a book
Or do your research?
Do you talk about trauma?
Do you get triggered by slave movies?
Do you think readin is borin?
Do you think callin someone who looks like you
As a nigga as an endearment?
Am I askin you some hard questions?
Or you don’t care at all?
Or you ignore me?
Or argue or debate or just talk to me?
Are you a Christian? Muslim?
Do you believe that we live in a colorblind world
And don’t believe racism is exist?
Do you stop and frisk racially profiled by a police?
Or your white neighbor?
Or do you get followed by a store manager or a clerk?
Or how about an old white lady clutched her purse tightly?
Or deal microaggressions by Karens
Or did you tell somebody that they need to stop touchin
Your hair?
Do you believe in black lives matter?
If you’re a black person,
Are you aware of these things?
As a friend or a kind stranger who writes this poem to
You
I’m lookin out for you….
As another fellow black person….
I’m a poetess
And I wanna tell you
You’re beautiful
You’re handsome
You’re awesome
You’re magical
Magnificent
Powerful
Wonderful
Amazin
And intelligent
And gift…
You are truly loved…
I wanna remind you that…
Cos the world, the society
Will always be unkind to our
Blackness….
Trust me….
That’s why you must understand
White supremacy….
The oppression
They’re goin to judge
Your skin color
Your race
All the time…
There’s nothin wrong
With you….
You’re human
Original one
The first
If you’re a black person,
Be proud
Be bold
Be great
Be grateful
Be human….🫶🏾💯✊🏿©️ Kai C. 10-22-24
