"N—er alert!”🗣 Latino teens shouted as they repeatedly punched a Black autistic teen in the NYC subway, according to a video circulating on social media. One suspect has been arrested in connection with this shameful attack, according to authorities.
Several teens picked on the 15-year-old autistic boy while he was getting off the train at West 181 Street and Fort Washington Avenue. The video shows a girl pulling the teen by his jacket along the platform and onto the train. While still gripping his collar, she yells at him to get off the train and starts punching him. An array of teenagers can be seen on the left side of the frame when the girl pulls him off the train - all of them with their phones out.
NYPD 34th Precinct tweeted pictures of the three suspects Monday asking for tips on the incident, and bystanders who failed to intervene uploaded more videos of the interaction. So far, one 14-year-old has been arrested. The NYPD Hate Crime Unit is also investigating the case due to the slurs thrown by the suspects.
As a result of the subway's heavy traffic, there are already a number of violent crimes occurring there, including shootings and commuters being thrown on the tracks. The simple act of trying to get home could put you in the hospital or a casket.
