March 18, 1986 (37 years ago): Whitney's version of "Greatest Love Of All" was released as the final single from her debut album (it had previously been recorded by George Benson).
The song, which Whitney has stated was her favorite song, became a massive hit worldwide and is the third most popular song of hers after "I Will Always Love You" and "I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)." The video was filmed at Harlem's famed Apollo Theater in New York City and includes an appearance by Cissy Houston, playing herself.
