I heard that
Cullman wasn’t
A sundown town
Anymore?
Are you sure?
Are you positive?
I don’t know….
I’m not goin there….
I don’t trust that,
I don’t trust those people,
You said it’s a hallmark Christmas
I’m like no thank you….
Why would I wanna go if
Black people are still being lynched
On the down low?
Strange fruit
Never fades….
It still lingers…..

You can’t say
Cullman is a sundown
Then it’s not anymore….
I bet it’s cold…cruelty is
Still chillin there we never
Know…. I’m sure ghosts walkin
Through the streets from Jim Crow era….
With ropes around their necks…
That could be somebody’s loved one
Who tried to get home but took a wrong
Turn…the ancestors…like
I said before, we just never know….

I have a question
I’m curious….
People talk about the horrors in town
Is it a part of their government covered up
Only to make a Christmas place in Alabama?
I mean it’s possible….they don’t wanna spread
Guilt across the grassy snowy land..
Still we just never know….
Since I brought up sundown towns,
And Cullman is one of them…
They had a not very kind sign that goes out
To black people…this county called them
A slur…you know that n word…..

Do I think Cullman is a sundown town?
Yes…it still is…I don’t care if it’s a Christmas place….
White people still herit their violence from their grandparents and great
Grandparents…keepin their traditions alive but it’s not in the open….
Christmas can’t hide racism….baby Jesus can’t hide white supremacy…
And it’s in the south….
