African Brain Surgeons...
Our ancestors performed brain surgeries thousands of years ago, a practice largely carried out by herbalists. Europeans, unable to comprehend the science behind the use of herbs, often referred to these practitioners as "witch doctors."
During the procedure, the patient would be given large amounts of alcohol as an anesthetic, held down by assistants, and the herbalist would carefully split the skull to remove the tumor. The wound was then treated with medicinal herbs and the skull bound together using ropes made from palm fronds. Remarkably, patients would heal within weeks.
