nottoway plantation
nottoway plantation
Is on fire, burnin to the ground
I’m sure ancestors were stuck inside
For too long….they wanted to be free…
From this brutal ache…from the heavy
Memories taunts every corner, in each room
Whoever started the flames,
Thank you….
We don’t need a plantation home
That keeps remindin black folks
About the abuse, about the heartbreak
That white America brings….
I know there are a lot of beatings
A lot of rape, a lot of house negroes
Who comforted the slavemasters…..we
Have to be real about history…American
Realistic history that white people usually tried
To erase….
I didn’t read the whole story about it
But I assume what happened….cos
Cos all slave plantation houses gave
My people trauma…. I don’t think one doesn’t
It’s all the damn houses that carry the horrors….
Even on fields, and small cabins….
Black people will always have the icky feelings
When white people doesn’t make it a big deal about it…
It looks like they mocked their blood, their pain
And yet the souls will haunt the hallways, teardrops on ceiling
You know white America still thinks black people
Are not humans, and they hear voices of anger and vengeance
Murmurin in their ears sayin you would pay for this….
And maybe nottaway plantation caught on fire….
Maybe this is a sign where black unity readies to strike back…
It’s possible…honestly plantation houses and mansions ain’t forgiven
Yes it’s an American history however it’s another household of terrors
And our ancestors lived through it…they had to deal with the circumstances
That tormented their spirits…
Whoever burned it down,
I thank you…💯✊🏿©️ Kai C. 5-16-25
