Miseducation
Miseducation
How far it will go…
People will run away with it…
And I’m seein this in my face…
I spoke loudly
To the silence
That black history is
Important….racism
Always been needed to
Talk about….
My mind is stuck
On Harriet Tubman
Situation, my melaninated
People are sayin
She doesn’t exist….
All I can say is
White supremacy has a huge smirk
About ignorant black folks
Runnin, walkin the streets
With phones, they have google
But refuse to type on search
And simply read…..
Honestly
Many people
Especially black America for the most part
Is not seein the bigger picture….
Some pay attention
Others go along with what people say
On TikTok
On Threads
On any social platforms….
Without lookin up for themselves….
and not realizin
Black history is deeply buryin into
Soil as we speak….
Racial erasure does exist,
They’re doin that in schools….
Not teachin babies critical thinkin….
That’s what they’ve
Been doin….
As a black poetess
Who writes the truth
About this,
I’m glad that I read
I’m glad that I keep learnin
I’m glad that I use google
I’m glad that I’m woke…
I’m glad that i can write poems
About our blackness
And mirrors white fragility
Without givin A shit
Cos I live in a world
Where ignorance is fuckin
Annoyin….where people don’t care
About history doom to repeat….
I’m doin my best to
Share
My words, my feelings
Yeah it’s poetic
But I expose the facts
To the blind eyes…
I understand anger
And I feel the anger
I feel the pain
This isn’t an exploitation
This is about humanity
And I wanna give harsh messages
Out there
Cos this is real life
This is real timin
Whether you don’t like it or not,
The problem is
Misinformed gets too much
Live streams, while truth sits in the
Dark….
It’s how miseducation goes…
Beyond too far….
I do my best to write and educate
Encourage people to do their own research
To heal in the best way I can
and yes some audience back away
Cos my realness scares them….
And others who are my readers
On the internet
I thank them
Even if they don’t agree
I appreciate,
All I wanna do
is educate people
With the hardest truths…
The ones that give them
Discomfort….
My space is not always
About sugar coated
Romance and love….
I’m about black people being
Human…I may not speak about
It in real time, I write my activism
In poetry…I speak about it on social
media….but I don’t say a word
In my reality….
Only when I feel the need to
Talk about it cos it’s on the news….
and part of it is
That racism makes us boiled up
Inside and we say nothin….
I play YouTube videos about it cos
I thought it was interestin….
This is why race needs to be discussed
To some it’s negative
For me, it give me somethin
To write about….
and miseducation plays its own character
In many lifetimes….
And Harriet Tubman, a black woman
A black historical figure
Caught my attention
Sayin she’s not a real person
By a TikToker who is also a black woman
Yes she did apologize for the statement
But other folks who will carry her words
Like a lifeline….
This is why racism and black history needs
To be put in our lips constantly
Cos miseducation is runnin rampant
And white supremacy is truly smirkin behind
The scenes….
The worst part about this,
Nobody have a listenin ear
To understand the truth….
Cos of soft emotions
And tender egos
And beautiful delicate dreams of
Certain versions….
I’m just sayin….
Educate yourself….
Learn
Read
Come up with your own conclusions….
and maybe you can share facts with
People who care….
Miseducation gives birth to ignorance….
That’s why I’ve been observin, recently….
