I don't usually write poems
About people with disabilities
As i should, however
I do write poems about black people
With disabilities, they have a voice too

Plus I'm a black woman in
A wheelchair myself...
We go through difficulties
As well...racism
Ableism still we're overlooked
I don't hear the serious talks of
White supremacy that often...it's still
There...it's still lingerin....

If we wanna talk about
Ableism, then let's talk her family
Member, her sister cousin racism....
They play a role...
When it comes to the issues
We're dealin with as black people,
We have to say we're black, such and such
Cos we're black...it does feel like it's about
Race...we see it, sometimes it may go over
Some heads...but we feel it and we have to say
Somethin about it...of course we get ignored
At times....our black and disabled doesn't get
A lot of attention when we speak out...
 black community do talk
About black people with disabilities...
It's not a lot though...
We're so divided and I'm sorry to say
This, it's the truth...we get overlooked
As well....it's a bad thing to say...
Though it's true....they see us but they don't
See us...they do take care of us
They do love us however at the same time
I do feel that black people with disabilities are not of
The melaninated race...like they're not a part of our
Unity and we should feel like we're part of our own people...
We should be all black people...not many black platforms
Talk about black people with disabilities who dealt with racism
As well everyday...we should protect the ones who are vulnerable....
We should teach them as young as possible about white supremacy
Find ways to teach them, to protect them...there's goin to be the authorities
Who will always care about melaninated skin and melaninated features...
Teach them how to love themselves, and their heritage
Teach them about black history
Cos so called colorblind society will open your eyes and see
What the fuck....all I'm tellin you is that black people with
Disabilities are part of the black race, too...it seems that they don't
Fit in....don't get offended....
Sometimes it's the only time we talk about black people with disabilities
Are on the news and that's it. Ya we talk about Steven Wonder and Ray Charles
What about the ones who needs protection from police brutality? What about a teacher's
Aide who throws microaggression at a black child with special needs?
I'm talkin about those situations, cos those situations have to do with
Race, and it does happen...there are not a lot of discussions about that...
