She rallied her people with these powerful words: "If you, the men of Ashanti, will not go forward, then we will. We, the women, will. I shall call upon my fellow women. We will fight till the last of us falls in the battlefields." She led the War of the Golden Stool, becoming one of the few women in history to command a major war against colonial forces. Though the British eventually exiled her, her legacy of resistance and courage lives on.
