MLK Day for me represents getting your ass kicked to invoke sympathy from racially tolerant, non-violent, progressive white people. I was never with that "we shall over come" bullshit, being spit on, violated, and beat down without fighting back. Jonesboro, Louisiana, 1964 was the birthplace of the civil rights activist group, the Deacons for Defense. The DFD were a group of armed Black, military-trained, former Korean War Veterans who were kicking-ass, killing klansmen, and taking names. In fact, it got so bad for the bubbas in Jonesboro, a truce was sought to end the bloodshed by the kkk. It wasn't until chapters began being formed throughout the Jim Crow south, that the FBI stepped in. AT NO TIME WHEN A DFD SECURITY FORCE WAS ONSIGHT TO PROTECT A CIVIL RIGHTS MEETING OR MARCH, there were zero bombings, lynchings, and destruction of Black properties.
