Piure... Is a sea squirt that grows only along the coasts of Chile and Peru.
It attaches to rocks and looks kind of like a reddish lump, but inside it’s bright red. It’s not a plant — it’s an animal, It’s edible and very popular in Chilean seafood. Strong, salty, iodine-like flavor (people either love it or hate it 😅)
Often eaten raw with lemon or used in stews...
