Marie de’ Medici (1575-1642) born to the Grand Duke of Tuscany Francesco I de’ Medici and Joanna of Austria a Habsburg Princess. During her youth she’d loose her mother and father/brother and sister, with her other sister remarried seeing her isolated. At the time In 1600 she was the wealthiest heiress in Europe and would marry Henry IV King of France bringing with her an inordinate dowry. The new queen and Henry would have a son and heir to the French throne Louis XIII. Upon the passing of Henry, Marie shifted her life’s goals to politics seeking control over the French government. She would overstay her welcome as regent enraging her son King Louis XIII leading to her exile from France.
