Over talk

Every time we bring a topic up
Racism,
You over talk…
You over talk and we can’t get a word
Out cos
You feel uncomfortable
You stutter a little bit sometimes
You get all defensive
Like you need to shut the conversation
Down for good…
Also
You interrupt our discussion
Cos somehow
You feel attack…
You offended with your entitlement
And your microaggression…
Some of us do what you say
Just cos you don’t wanna feel guilty…
Like you snatched our voices
And your mic drop

You think you did somethin..
People like you are ignorant
People like you don’t even acknowledge the term
Woke yet you do know
You just don’t want people to be aware of
The truth about everythin…
And your comfort is havin people asleep
Forever…
Especially black people..
Givin us sleepin pills by you
Hushin us tellin us to shut the fuck up..

To me, that triggers my bones
You even tell the high ups
To destroy our platforms
And zip our mouths…
This is power we’ve been talkin about
Systematic power to quiet us about
The wrong doings against the black race…
Like we can’t discuss how dehumanization of
Black people and other races have repeat itself
Over and over and over like a scratchy broken record…

Are you goin to over talk my poems?
Are you goin to get me off the stage?
Are you goin to pressure me to edit my words or
Erase everythin that is black?
So you and your so called good ol fellows can be
Ok..

You ain’t goin to over talk a poetess…
Not today
Not ever…..
You ain’t over talk anybody
And make them be silent…
It’s never fair…

I don’t care how you feel..
You can feel mad
You can turn red all you want
But

When it comes to race
And it’s in our face
We need to speak louder and clearer
And we should strike back violently

Cos how many times
We’ve been abused by the oppressors” system…

They speak violence
I keep sayin it over and over

And still

We are continuin to be a punk
To defend ourselves against the
Oppression..

Which is sad…💯✊🏿 ©️ Kai C. 3-13-23
