Glass, originally from Georgia, had served in Company A. 10th Cavalry before taking over his new position, he would serve as Chief until about 1900, when he retired and moved his family to Santa Fe, New Mexico, where he died in 1908. His wife survived him until she was killed in an automobile accident in 1932. They had three children."
