The Amharas are an ethnic group of Ethiopia ๐ช๐น๐, representing about 27% of the population. They mainly live in the Amhara region and speak Amharic, the official language of the country. The Amharas are predominantly Orthodox Christians, with their religion being an essential element of their cultural identity. Their history is marked by the influence of the ancient kingdom of Aksoum and the formation of modern Ethiopia.

Their culture encompasses diverse artistic expressions, such as music, dance, poetry and religious art. They also have a unique spelling system, "faithful'. The Amharas have contributed to the promotion of Ethiopian education and literature, including through their language and religious institutions.
