In 1935, 20,000 African Americans in New York, Chicago, Boston and Detroit volunteered to fight for Ethiopia 🇪🇹 against the Italian 🇮🇹 invasion. They were barred from leaving and threatened with imprisonment. But the U.S. allowed Italian Americans to fight for Italy 🇮🇹 in Ethiopia 🇪🇹
