MALI DROPS FRENCH AS OFFICIAL LANGUAGE?

Mali’s new constitution drops French as the official language of the country.

However, French will continue as the primary working language, while 13 other national languages will be formally recognized as official languages.

As Afrocentric pan-Africanist l say congratulations. But l wouldn't celebrate yet.

I hope the government of Mali is not being reactive in taking such a historical decision. l wonder how they dropped French language in a new constitution still written in French!

Also, why 13 national languages? That's really ridiculous. One national language will suffice.

And major translation works from French to the new national language should have been in place long before now to ensure a proper transition, especially science text books and national documents.

Sometimes l just hope African leaders are thinking beings .
