Plans to put Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill has been delayed to December 31, 2030 due to “technical design requirements” and complex security and anti-counterfeiting features 💵
Her image would replace President Andrew Jackson, known both for owning hundreds of slaves and for his policy of Native American removal.
Based on current designs, a statue of Jackson would remain on the back of the bill, while Harriet Tubman would grace the front. Tubman would be the first woman and Black American to be printed on a U.S. bill denomination.
