A sad lesson

A sad lesson
That we as black people
Should learn and teach
We carry that knowledge
Along the roads in our lives….

That sad lesson
Is to shut our mouths
Not to speak another loud word….
Meanin don’t use your voice
For the right reasons
For doin the right thing….

We tell our kids
To turn the other cheek
Not to be bold and brave….
Don’t go beyond extreme….

It’s sad sad lesson
And it came from colonization
And slavery….
It’s in our dnas to apologize like
A slave….

It’s heartbreakin to see
That…

When I observe a tone policin
Around the social media post
My anger turns into outrage poet
That goes on paper and inks the hurts
For all black people, especially when some
Who doesn’t even get it at all…..

Honestly
We get scared
For tellin the truth
We get afraid of not learnin
Our sad, sad lesson….

Sad sad lesson
Is to be silent
To hush
To shh
Or
You lose lots of friends
Family members
Your job
Your school
Even your home
Or your health insurance
Even money
Your everythin
Cos

You didn’t
Learn
Your
Sad lesson…
You rebel
You get angry
You spoke up
You said somethin
You do somethin
And you lead people to unite
Somehow
You got killed
You got assassinated
Cos

You crack the chains….

Other black people
Would be
Like I told you so
Not to open
Their mouths
But they won’t listen….

We have unfair system
On the planet
Do you get it…
This unfair system
Programmed us to be
That scared to back away
And be naive
Ignorant…
It’s how they control us…….

Like
We’re not allowed to
Use our voices for the greater good
At all…we should be usin our voices
To say it doesn’t matter what color your
Skin is….we gotta come together as one…

Not to speak about the system
That hurts black people across the world….

It’s not a good teachable moment
For us as black people…

Within our hearts and souls
We gotta do the right thing
Even when it’s almost close to death
Advocacy for black people
Will always be the issue…
No matter what…

It’s the compassion
It’s the Love
It’s the pride

I know when you listen to terrifyin
Black stories and they need to be heard
Without givin a fuck about white guilt
And white fragility….
They need to be heard so they won’t
Repeat them anymore….
America concealed so much history even
Around the world they hide countless pasts
Sweepin them under a rug…

I’m sure internet
Will cancel many black souls
Takin down the website
Pdf and audio books away
Before some curious cats go
And google things..
And read….

Sooner or later
There could be a
Law that says you ain’t allowed to google
Unless you do a survey…
You never know…it’s possible….

Remember,
Slaves ain’t allowed to read..,.
Slaves ain’t allowed to speak up for themselves…

It’s why a sad lesson exists today
In 2023….

It’s why I get so offended
That someone tells me
I can’t post anythin
About black power, racism
Just cos I got white friends and
White people holdin me
Tellin me I should take it down.,,
I got so offended when
Black people feel need to apologize
For speakin facts….
And they feel bad about it….feels like
They were being forced

It really piss me off
It bothers me a lot
Like do we really have to keep that anger
To ourselves?
As a secret?
Don’t say anythin?

A real lesson
Is
To
Speak
Up
No matter what….
Don’t limit your common sense
For anybody….
Speak from the gut….

Even
When death comes at your doorstep….

It’s sacrifice
It’s price you pay
It’s liberation….

So
You got cancelled
So
You got banned

You shouldn’t give a fuck
About what people say
Nor feelings
Fuck them….

If you heard this
Sad lesson,
And you don’t wanna hear
That you need to be quiet
TAlK THAT TALK
SPEAK LOUDER
WITH YOUR WHOLE HEARTBEAT
NOT YOUR CHEST
FROM THE SOUL THAT’S NOT WASTIN YOUR BREATH….

AND NEVER APOLOGIZE
NEVER HUSH YOUR LIPS….

YOU ARE THE BACKBONE….
