I think we should forget 9/11
Well you told black people
To forget slavery…
I think you should get over 9/11….
It’s all in the past…right?
That’s what you tell us black people
Slavery is history and we should move on
The funny thing is you keep remindin us
Our traumas…you give us triggers….
Since you got the nerve to tell us
Leave slavery in the dark
Then you should leave 9/11 alone….
The only reason you don’t wanna bring up
Slavery and the mistreatment of melaninated race
Cos you don’t wanna feel guilty…
You don’t wanna go on a guilt trip….
You yell at us black people
You bring sambos to quiet us
Yet we keep speakin up….
Sambos ain’t goin to work
White tears ain’t goin to work either….
If we’re goin to talk about 9/11,
Holocaust,
We’re goin to talk about slavery…
I don’t give a fuck about you being offended
Cos you offended me and my people
That we shouldn’t discuss about slavery
And you frighten us not to utter a word about it….
White people feel uncomfortable
Talkin about slavery
They knew exactly what their ancestors did to ours….
They knew they had breedin farms
They knew they fed black babies to the gators
They knew they buckbreak black men
They knew they raped black women
All the horrors….
It’s why they wanna hide so much history
The funny part is that those types of events
Keep repeatin themselves…it’s just an upgrade….
So I say fuck 9/11…
It’s all in the past
I’m serious…
I know people died in the twin towers
In New York….airplanes crashed…
I’m aware….
But black people died in tragedies
And you keep tellin us to forget about it
You should forget 9/11…
You shouldn’t bring it up cos it’s uncomfortable
I bet you don’t like that…
Cos this is how black people feel
When you tell us slavery is over…
All the time…you interrupt us
You insult us
Sayin shut up nobody wants to hear us cry or complain
That’s the white privilege in you
That’s I’m so white and you can’t speak about the past….
Guilt is written all over you like a real poem…
I can see it…
It’s a reason why we don’t talk about race in the classroom
We have to coddle white students’ feelings….
White supremacy made it happen…
White supremacy is still goin strong….
They made it to where black people zip our lips
To hush our anger to get us to whitewash our own stories
For the sake of the oppressors…bleachin every detail into
Fairytale myths….as a lot of us become desensitized to this subject
Altogether…like we don’t believe in racism at all….
We’ve been well trained not to talk about it
Yet it’s still in our face…
Don’t talk about slavery
Talk about 9/11
Talk about holocaust
Don’t talk about Jim Crow
And black towns massacres
I do have the right to converse
About my people sufferings
I do have the right to teach you history lessons
About white people did to black people….
I don’t need your permission….
Cos you knew what’s happened in the past…
