J. Marion Sims was a gynecologist in the 1800’s who used African women slaves as guinea pigs for his untested surgical experiments. He repeatedly performed genital surgery on African women without anesthesia because according to him and white folks back then, “African women don’t feel as much pain as white folks." Despite his inhumane tests on African women, Sims was named “the father of modern gynecology” and his statue currently stands right outside of the New York Academy of Medicine on 5th avenue and east 103rd street…Smh
