"My religion is..." For some as soon as they hear this phrase it triggers an emotional response.
For some outright hatered. I have a different take. I wholeheartedly embrace religion, because believe I see it for what it truly is. Do the knowledge with me. Hear me out.
For most religion is really what we call "Organized religion". Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, even Yoruba, Voudoun, or Santeria... but for me its all, AND none of that.. Let me explain...
Religion to me is not what people claim, but more importantly what they actually practice on a daily basis.
If fitness is the focus, and we care more about how we look than actually being healthy then perhaps vanity is our religion. If we love animals, but have no healthy relationships with humans then perhaps a bit of self-hatred is our religion.
How we treat ourselves, and those we come into contact with is our religion. My focus for instance is on wanting for others what I want for myself. I'm not a perfect practitioner, but that is the foundation of my personal religion. We can incorporate rituals, burning candles for the deceased, prayers in Hebrew, or Arabic, or kicking the dog, but at the end of the day whatever you actually practice on a daily basis IS your religion regardless of what you call yourself.
We ALL are religious beings, and our true religion is reflected in what we practice be that action, or complaint.. giving up, or perseverance.. stagnation, or constant elevation.. harmonic balance, or focus on one area.
I'll leave you with this.. These are the areas of development that I identify with:
- Physical
- Martial (Kung Fu, etc)
- Mental
- Spiritual
- Emotional
- Environmental
- Intellectual
- Business / Occupation
- Financial
- Social (Family/Friends/Biz Relations)
- Esoteric (Dreams, Intuition, Psychic etc)
Just my 2 cents...
