I can understand
Why there are black people
Who wanted to give up
On black communitiesâ€Ļ.
Cos nobody is listeninâ€Ļ
Everybody is ignorin a voice
Of reasonâ€Ļ. I wanted to give up,
Too cos nobody is readin my poems
About black peopleâ€ĻI felt like
They don’t wanna paste their
Hearts on my insightful metaphorsâ€Ļ
I wanted to help them by writin to themâ€Ļ
Then I forgot that many of us has that readin
Syndrome been passed up from slaveryâ€Ļmeanin
Back then our ancestors weren’t allowed to readâ€Ļ
Also our own tongues were forced to taste English
For the first timeâ€Ļthe fact is black people grew
Not to careâ€Ļnot sayin all of us but some do care
Some do help the black communityâ€Ļ. I thought I could help
Them with my poems, warnin them about white supremacyâ€Ļ.
And how it was dangerousâ€Ļthese poems are not published
In books, they’re on social mediasâ€Ļ cos we’re on social media
A lot. I thought maybe a black poem can heal our trauma, encouragin
Us to break a curseâ€Ļ.a poem that teaches us how to love ourselves
And love each other..there’s nothin wrong with being blackâ€Ļnothin
Wrong with our melaninâ€Ļ.white supremacy is violently jealous of usâ€Ļ
Of how we pop in the sunâ€Ļ.and we stay youngerâ€Ļ
White supremacy has this small amount of people on the planet
And we’re majorityâ€Ļand they’re tellin us what to do cos they have to
Surviveâ€ĻA lot of black people don’t careâ€ĻA lot of black people are still in
A deep sleepâ€Ļa lot of black people are still fightin each other while
Racism dirty ass foot on our necksâ€Ļit’s frustratin that some black truth tellers
Can’t wake them up, it’s difficult to realize that we can’t save everyoneâ€Ļwe have to leave
Them behindâ€Ļ.i was Told not to post racism on the internet cos I got white friendsâ€ĻI got
White people helpin me.. but how Am I going to help black people? How am I goin to wake
Some or most of them up? How am I goin to do the right thing?
If I hate my blackness and my own people, and I was too ignorant
I wouldn’t be writin my black poetry from my soulâ€Ļ.
If I write about ableism, nobody would bat an eyeâ€Ļ.
But if I write about racism, there would be raise eyebrowsâ€Ļ
Like I can’t talk about itâ€Ļlike I don’t experience itâ€Ļ
From my understandin, racism should be talked about
Cos too many of us experience itâ€Ļwe get under the attack cos
The color of our skinâ€Ļit’s so important to represent the issueâ€Ļ.
I don’t give a fuck about white people feelings..I give fucks about
My people’s feelingsâ€Ļblack people feelingsâ€Ļthis is not the exploitation
Bull shitâ€Ļ.I’m fightin for our humanity through stanzas I’m fighting for us
As humansâ€Ļcos everyday white supremacy keeps remindin us we’re not humanâ€Ļ
But we areâ€Ļthere’s nothin wrong with black peopleâ€Ļ.the only thing wrong is
Our illnessesâ€Ļour conditionsâ€Ļ.our Stockholm syndromes our self hate behaviors
All the things that traces back to slavery, traces back to colonization..we still have identity crisis
Whether we realize it or notâ€Ļ. We also disrespect ourselves a whole another levelâ€Ļand it’s really sadâ€Ļ
I understand why some black people gave up on our own race, cos countless of them are so lost in the sauceâ€Ļbut there’s still hope somewhere in us that one day we rise up like a messiahâ€Ļ
And crush down the whole global systemâ€Ļcos I always thought possible things.. we don’t know itâ€Ļ
If that anger comes through our bones, we can get shit all the way doneâ€Ļ
Unfortunately, we’re not that angryâ€ĻI think slave mentalities might block our angerâ€ĻI could be wrongâ€Ļ
I will not stop writin poems about black peopleâ€Ļand racismâ€Ļand post them onlineâ€Ļ
Because it needs to be talked aboutâ€Ļit’s a real life issueâ€Ļit’s abuse of powerâ€Ļ
Black people need to understand thatâ€Ļthat’s the reason why I write about itâ€Ļ
Constantly, I gotta remind black communities that we’re not animals in so many other wordsâ€Ļ
We’re humansâ€Ļwe do existâ€Ļwe feel painâ€Ļwe get angryâ€Ļwe cryâ€Ļ.and again
White supremacy was like nah, y’all ain’t humansâ€Ļthey show us that lots of times in so many waysâ€Ļ.
Like we ain’t allowed to be a humanâ€Ļ.white supremacy didn’t allowed a black man to be a manâ€Ļ
Have you noticed? I did.. I wrote about itâ€Ļ.we’re at warâ€Ļ.a lifetime war..
I’m just warnin black people as much as I canâ€ĻI don’t really care if I get cancelled or notâ€Ļ
