Patrice Lumumba

They burned him
Throwin sulfuric acid
On his dark skin
Shot him by the tree….

Cos he wanted Congo
To break free from that white man’s
Power….

And you see why no wonder
Loved ones told you to be quiet
Not Sayin those things
Like

Doin the right thing for your
Own people….being self
Determined and break free from
Those European rules….

This was a long time ago
In Africa he was a black leader
Of Congo he refused to be a
Puppet master….he refused to
Be under their spell….

His name was Patrice Lumumba….
And he spoke out
He United his people to stand up
And what did the colonizers do?

They burned him,
After horrible beatings
They burned him….
Probably in flames who knows

And you see why too
Many black people are too scared
To commit, to have a passion for
Our own real life liberation
To make a sacrifice for your own race
Cos the system was like no you can’t help
Your people not on my watch….if you do somethin
Harm against us we’ll kill you….we’ll kill you secretly.”

When I hear those stories like this,
I think about the people surroundin by
Leaders sayin you can’t be doin this…
They will kill you…

Honestly
We don’t have actual black leaders
Who would shut the whole system down
To the ground…we have ones who did their best
Who was closer to tear it up
But,

They ended up passin away…

If I were in that position,
Truthfully
I would give up
Cos I don’t wanna die….yes it is selfish
That white supremacy threats can create fear
In melaninated souls….
Can create stress in our bones
When the CIA sends death warnings
To the homes…

All cos you did the right thing for
Your own people….this is insanity….

I shouldn’t be scared
If I were in that position
My bravery would be like a monster
Comin from the closet and
Chase them all the way up and down
Then somehow they would get their weapons
And terrorize me
If I wasn’t afraid of death….

Patrice Lumumba
Should have been alive
And keep fightin back the system…

Helpin black people to unite
Shouldn’t be a death penalty
For black leaders… but you know
