Opelousas/New Orleans

Intimidation was real
Was too damn real
Especially on September 28
White men
Yes I said white men
Angry white men
Had to let the black voters
Know they can’t have their own
Progress…white angry men have stopped
Them in their tracks…
Durin election….
You got the nerve to tell
Me white folks feared for their lives
Cos black people were doin
Their own thing somehow
We were afraid of them huntin
Us down all cos we’re doin the
“American way” like votin
Being in politics
Yet they’re tellin us we’re not
Allow to be Americans cos accordin
To 13th amendment we’re not considered
Humans….only white folks are human
That’s how I see it…look at their actions
Their violent behaviors towards us
Especially in the south….
On September 28
Their intimidation caused a major riot in town
Opelousas
New Orleans
And I’m sure their intimidation turned to
Hush tunes cos white guilt and fragility
Still linger
Black people speaks about their events
Their ancestors durin massacre
The tales of blood will crack a heart in half
Cos many passed….many, many passed…
Black people were thrivin
And they got murder for it
Is it so cold to listen to this story?
Yes it’s too cold…somebody got the nerve
To tell our black owned loneliness scared
White people, but they keep us afraid
To do somethin on our own…which is insane
Afraid of doin better than them…
Yes that kind of fear is trauma….
