In a patriarchal society, a male can be topless/shirtless, in public, and society accepts that - nothing happens to him. A woman does it and she is verbally blasted, and possibly arrested for indecent exposure, not to mentioned being lusted after by unwanted over-sexed males who want to 'grape' her.
