mental health in the black community
So we don’t talk about
Mental Health in the black community
We really don’t….
Why?
We don’t speak about our trauma, our pain
Our slave mentality, our ignorance
Our psychonegrosis….
Are we embarrassed?
Or were we forced not to say a word
A long time ago on the plantation?
We were suppose to be quiet,
Though somethin is wrong with our brains…..
We’re sick
We got mental illnesses….
How could we heal if we don’t have a conversation
About it?
Black race asked these things
Black race makes statements about these things
We have observed one another
Some of us study our brokenness
Lookin at us in shatter mirrors…
And I will always blame white supremacy
Who taught shame who stole our beauty away
Always blame racism that makes us hate ourselves
In countless ways…they have us annihilated our self
Respect as a daily routine….what were we thinkin?
We listened to low vibration music,
We fight we do drugs, we wanna be white forever
Cos we hate our own melanin in our skin….
It’s why too many of us don’t give a fuck about
Our mental health…we say therapy sessions is for
White people….yet do we realize we as a people
Still carry our generational curse…it’s our burden…
It’s like the safest room we ever known but it’s not….
Black people, my people
You do have to talk about our mental health….
Cos we have conditions that sustained our bones…
Take a look at our behavior, it’s quite frightenin…
It’s a part of genocide that we’re not aware about….
Like why do we have gender wars in our own community?
Why are we not gatekeepin our own culture that we created?
Too many won’t believe we’re at war….
Mental health is important, we do need to talk about it
Even though we don’t wanna hear it
Even when we say Jesus heals all wounds…
Rollin our eyes and telling each other to change the subject…
Like we don’t care….it’s really depressin….
