Arguably the most dangerous snake in South Africa, accounting for a large percentage of serious snakebites in the country, packing a horribly potent flesh-destroying venom and carrying an attitude unlike any other snake; Puff Adders are large vipers which use their camouflage to mostly remain undetected. They are ambush predators that strike with incredible speed, unfolding their hinged fangs and snapping their jaws shut with each strike. The snake in the video is in the process of shedding its skin hence the pale blue eyes, often referred to as the snake being “in the blue.”
