On black love day
A black man and a black woman
Cuddles up in their love seat
Exchangin words
Engagin sweet kisses
Then comes passion…
Between this couple
They could run away together
Grow old with one another
Soul and rhythm
Black eyed peas
Collard greens
The blues
The r&b
Why can it be love jonesin
Everyday?
I mean
Redamancy is happenin
The best thing ever…
Their grandkids
Their great grandkids
Listen to a love story
That’s powerful
I didn’t experience that
Before
I didn’t experience the kind
Of beautiful healthy relationship
With someone who I could grow with….
Someone who I share my inside jokes
I don’t know what’s like to have a great
Long term union with a man who gives
Wild butterflies all the time..
I thought I experienced redamancy
But it was fake
It was all unrequited
I wasn’t feelin someone who loves me, too…
All the time….
I ignored that emotion….
Cos I wanted him to change his mind about me
It never worked out….

If people want love
They’re going have to understand and find redamancy
Cos it makes sense…it makes logical sense….
Especially for black people
My own race
We have constant gender wars
In our own community..
Like we don’t need each other….
Yes we do
Yes we do need each other…
Many black people are blinds
To see there are good black men and good black women
Out there
Who want to be loved….
Who can do romantic things
Who can support dreams and accomplishments
Who can cheer you on
Who can have your back
Spend quality time with you
And yesterday was a black love day
Those of us who celebrate it..
I wrote a poem about it
Let me remind
My people
We can celebrate black love
Everyday
Not only on the 13th…
Plus we need to practice
Black love anyway
Cos honestly
There are a lot of self hate
In us
No dignity and respect inside our bones
White supremacy continues to erase that
A lot…most times we don’t see that….
So redamancy needs to be our mouths
If we’re serious about a black husband
A black wife
A healthy black love and marriage…
There’s nothin wrong with wantin that in our lives…
Real love is possible and rare….
So black people out there
Don’t give up
Don’t ever give up
Cos y’all never know y’all might end up
With an amazing person….
To me
That’s a high unexpectation….
