The mammy effect
A trauma response to a white woman
Who feels warm inside….who feels high
And I can understand where black women
Are comin from….it’s a repeat….it does affect
Sistahs who carries on with that…you can’t say
That’s those black women from back in the day…
That trauma goes on and on in our genes….
You gotta know the history,
Black women were slaves takin care of
White babes….they didn’t have the chance to
Nurture their own…they bowed down to
Their mistresses in the house callin them baby
Ma’am or any name that makes them feel superior
Even in the times of Jim Crow….
They stereotype us as mammies
If we don’t give them an attention
They will hurt us….
When a white woman feels warm
By callin her baby from a black woman
It’s a trigger….it’s a mix feelin of a compliment
Even if some black women are heal from that
We shouldn’t have to call Becky baby, darlin…
We ain’t here to serve white women nor white men
Anymore….we ain’t here to kiss white people’s dirty toes….
But there’s still trauma…
A mammy effect in all of this….
There’s a lot of history behind this….
It’s been passed down for generations….
It’s started as a master or mistress forced an
African slave woman take care of their bad ass kids….
While they fed her babies to the alligators…..
