Here lies the head of Augustus Cesar, the man responsible for changing the name of Sextilus into August and adding a 31st day in his own honour.

With an army of elite archers, she launched a pivotal attack on the Roman forts and drove them to retreat! She had her warriors decapitate the bronze statue of the so called Emporer and buried it two and a half meters beneath the temple of Ammon, right beneath the steps so that Meroë's many visitors would trample on it as they passed.
Discovered nearly 2000 years later (in 191 the head now resides in the British Museum, along with a collection of other looted artefacts. I say, put it back in the ground!
