A mirror

You know
I was told not to
Give white folks a
Mirror…i was told
To keep it to myself
But i refused…
I broadcast it online

Nobody,
Well I can't say
Nobody
Some people
Study and let
It settles deep
Within…

Doesn’t
Mean I hate,
It means
This mirror of
Their wrongdoing
Their destruction
Against the humanity
Is still an issue..
It's the patterns of issues
That these white folks
Turn the cheek and
Ban my voice…

Yet not a lot
Of them read my poems
I think they back away
Or say ok, Kai in their minds
Or they don’t pay attention
All at once…
Cos not everyone is goin to
Look at the mirror….
Not everyone will agree
Maybe they think
I'm cruel…
And shouldn't give the mirror
That exposes white folks…

I always thought about
Those types of situations
Where black leaders gave
White supremacy a mirror
They got assassinated…

This is why
Mirrors ain't allowed
In the classrooms
Or at a job
We're not suppose to
Discuss Mirrors of
White people…
Not even on social media

And oh here we are
Showin them a mirror
Still they turned their heads
In another direction…

Do you believe in karma?
Karma has a mirror
That they can never run away
From… they could express
They're white…but whiteness doesn't
Keep them from consequences…
Since they don't want a mirror
I gave them
Let karma handle that…

Even some white people
Have to face the mirror
Themselves…
They don't like what they see
They don't like how their system
Harmed nonwhite people…

I used to write love poems to white boys

I used to write love poems to white Boys…
I didn’t think love was never about skin color…
Thought white Boys are the standard….
Somehow I wanted to be with a white boy…
He was in the tv series, romantic films…
He was a high status, not thinkin about a black boy…

Years later, I learned that the system has set up
To create delusions of whiteness is so much better…
Young black women were conditioned to believe white
Is always right…we keep chasin power and status..
For me, I wasn’t thinkin about power, I was thinkin
About romance, I used to get triggered by people askin
Why do I keep crushin on white boys a lot? What about black
Boys?” I thought they were being racist…I never understood
Why they asked me that…until

I found out about the psychology and history of
Interracial relationships, the mindset of lovin a
White man, why does black people leave their own
Race and mate with white people? I’m goin to keep it simple
As possible..Stockholm Syndrome, and self hatred..
I’m not goin through the list of why…we were conditioned
And we see white is the greatest status in the world
Since colonization….yet it’s really not….

I fell into that category…and I didn’t know at the time…

Not that I hate my blackness, I thought love
Wasn’t about race…i wrote interracial marriages
Poetry as celebrations…now I look at interracial love
Differently ever since I learned about black history
And the tricks of racism.. I watched a YouTube video
Of a black woman married a white man, she said
His family had to put her in her place.. she can’t be
Too black…she had to act white for them to be comfortable..

I’m doin my best to explain this topic.
Cos it’s important..Especially for black women who
Wanna date and marry white men…who think black men
Ain’t worth it…for those who believe mix race kids will make
Racism disappear…

Tell the truth
Fallin in love with a white man does not give sistahs power…
Writing love poems to a white man doesn’t give us a status….
When you’re with a person who doesn’t look like you,
People will always judge about your skin color
When you date a white partner who still has racial ideologies
And upholds white supremacy
And you still love and hope this human will change…
You’re goin to be forever lost..

I stopped writin love poems
Cos I taught myself that racism plays its role…
And white boys white men can never be trusted….
Now I understood the question….
I write love poems to black men
All kinds of black men
Black men who loves black women
How they protect them
I type metaphors to tell them to protect
Their masculinity….
Cos white supremacy usually turns the
Brothas into women…
And it’s not okay…

There’s nothin
Wrong with black men…
They’ve been in the same boat, too…
It’s why I advocate black love
Healthy black love
On social media
By sharing black couples
in Instagram story
And on threads

Racism is tryin
To erase it
By continuin to encourage black people
To date outside their race…
