Just in case you didn't know....The Memorial Day Holiday was founded by Black People. At the end of the Civil War in Beaufort, South Carolina, Black Union soldiers buried dead Black soldiers, placing memorials on each gravesite. The white soldiers only buried the white soldiers and left the Black soldier's remains unburied. Every year on the same day in May, Black communities would honor the Black civil war dead, paying homage to their sacrifices to end slavery. That was the beginning of Memorial Day being adopted as a national holiday.
